Our healthcare facilities are second to none: Canterbury Woods has consistently earned Medicare’s Five-Star rating, the highest available, and is accredited by the Continuing Care Accreditation Commission, recognizing that the community is among New York State’s very best.

Furthermore, our Wellness Center is soon going to get even better. Late this summer, construction will begin on a $2.4 million renovation that will include an expanded fitness center with state-of-the-art HUR cardio, weight-bearing and free weight equipment; a full-service spa; a classroom with the latest audiovisual technology; and much more.

Another example of Canterbury Woods’ dedication to helping our residents create their very best retirement life is our membership in LeadingAge, an organization with a mission to expand the world of possibilities for people as they age.

LeadingAge’s 6,000 members and partners represent the entire spectrum of aging services. As a member, we are privy to the latest research, innovations and best practices in the field, as well as cutting-edge initiatives that not only help us to meet the needs of our residents, but also to develop innovative services.

We are very much involved with LeadingAge New York, our state’s LeadingAge branch, and we were delighted to host this year’s LeadingAge New York CCRC Summer Summit at Canterbury Woods in June. Folks from all over the state came together on our beautiful campus to talk about key trends in senior services and achieving the best care for all of our residents.

Besides holding the 2016 CCRC Summit here, LeadingAge New York has recognized the qualities that make Canterbury Woods so special. For his dedication to the field of aging services, LeadingAge New York chose our CEO and President, Robert Wallace to receive the 2015 James W. Sanderson Memorial Award for Leadership.
